The Story Behind The Crafts & Kitchen
My name is Marcus Carter, and I am the founder and editor of The Crafts & Kitchen. I created this website because I have always been interested in the practical side of cooking: how kitchen equipment works, why different cookware materials behave differently, how cooking methods affect food, and how to get more from the tools already found in a home kitchen.
The idea for The Crafts & Kitchen started with a simple habit.
Whenever I came across a kitchen product or cooking question I didn’t fully understand, I wanted to know more. What was the product actually designed to do? What made one type of cookware different from another? How should a particular appliance be used? What should someone know before buying or using a particular kitchen product?
The more questions I researched, the more I realized that there was a large amount of practical kitchen information scattered across different sources.
That became the motivation for creating The Crafts & Kitchen: to bring useful information about everyday kitchens together in one place and explain it in a way that is accessible to ordinary home cooks.
About Marcus
I’m Marcus, the founder and editor of The Crafts & Kitchen.

My interest in the kitchen comes from the perspective of a home cook and a curious researcher rather than that of a professional chef. I enjoy understanding how things work and digging into the details behind the products and techniques people use every day.
Over time, my interests have increasingly centered on kitchen appliances, cookware, cooking methods, kitchen products, and the practical questions that surround them.
I pay particular attention to the details that can easily be overlooked when choosing or using kitchen equipment. Materials, construction, product specifications, intended uses, cooking temperatures, operating instructions, and differences between products can all affect how something performs in a real kitchen.
This practical curiosity is what eventually developed into The Crafts & Kitchen.
Why I Founded The Crafts & Kitchen
Before creating the site, I noticed how often seemingly simple kitchen questions required searching through several different sources to find a satisfactory answer.
A person might want to know whether a particular cookware material is suitable for a certain cooking method. Someone else might want to understand the difference between two kitchen appliances. Another person might simply want to know how a particular piece of equipment should be used.
These aren’t necessarily complicated questions, but finding a clear explanation can sometimes be surprisingly difficult.
I wanted to create a resource that focused on these practical questions.
Instead of trying to make the site about one narrow aspect of cooking, I decided to build a broader kitchen information resource covering the subjects that people encounter in their everyday kitchens.
That became the foundation of The Crafts & Kitchen.
My Areas of Expertise
My work on The Crafts & Kitchen focuses primarily on practical home-kitchen knowledge and research into kitchen products and equipment.
The areas I spend the most time researching include:
- Kitchen appliances and their practical uses
- Cookware materials, construction, and features
- Cooking methods, temperatures, and preparation techniques
- Kitchen equipment and product specifications
- Kitchen brands and manufacturing information
- Product comparisons and purchasing considerations
- Everyday questions about using kitchen equipment
My approach combines hands-on familiarity with kitchen equipment and detailed research.
For product-related subjects, I examine information such as manufacturer specifications, product documentation, materials, features, dimensions, intended uses, and other available sources.
For cooking-related subjects, I consider factors such as cooking method, temperature, timing, equipment, and the characteristics of the food being prepared.
The goal is not simply to repeat product descriptions or generic information. I want to understand the subject well enough to explain the practical details that actually matter to someone using a kitchen at home.
How I Research Topics
Research is an important part of my work on The Crafts & Kitchen.
When investigating a kitchen product, appliance, cookware material, or cooking question, I look at the available factual information and try to understand how it applies in an everyday kitchen.
Depending on the subject, that may include manufacturer documentation, product specifications, usage instructions, material information, technical details, and other reliable sources.
I also pay attention to the difference between a manufacturer’s claims and information that can be independently supported.
When information depends on a particular product, model, material, or cooking situation, I try to make that context clear rather than treating one answer as universal.
This research-first approach is particularly important when writing about kitchen products because two products that look similar can have significant differences in materials, construction, features, or intended use.
What The Crafts & Kitchen Covers
The Crafts & Kitchen is focused on practical information about the modern home kitchen.
Kitchen Appliances
The site covers common kitchen appliances and cooking equipment, including subjects such as air fryers, pressure cookers, ovens, rice cookers, and other appliances.
The focus is on understanding how these products work, how they are used, and the questions people commonly have about them.
Cookware
Cookware is another major area of interest.
The site explores different cookware materials, construction methods, features, uses, and the practical differences between various types of pots, pans, and cookware products.
Cooking Methods
The Crafts & Kitchen also covers questions involving cooking methods, temperatures, timing, preparation techniques, and other practical aspects of cooking at home.
Kitchen Products & Brands
I also research kitchen brands and individual products, including questions about materials, manufacturing, product features, specifications, and intended uses.
This information can be particularly useful when someone is trying to understand a product before purchasing it or wants to learn more about equipment they already own.
Everyday Kitchen Questions
Some of the most useful information begins with a very specific question.
Can a particular appliance be used for a certain purpose? What does a particular cookware material mean? How should a piece of equipment be maintained? What is the difference between two similar kitchen products?
These everyday questions are at the heart of what I want The Crafts & Kitchen to answer.
The Philosophy Behind The Site
I don’t believe useful kitchen information needs to be complicated.
Most people aren’t looking for a culinary lecture when they have a question about their kitchen. They usually want to understand something clearly enough to make a decision or solve a problem.
That’s the standard I try to follow when creating information for The Crafts & Kitchen.
Explain the subject clearly.
Focus on the details that matter.
Avoid unnecessary complexity.
And when something depends on circumstances, explain those circumstances rather than pretending there is always one universal answer.
One Person Behind The Site
The Crafts & Kitchen is founded and edited by Marcus.
When I use the word “I” on this website, I am referring to myself, Marcus.
When the name “The Crafts & Kitchen” is used, it refers to the website and its published information.
I want that distinction to be clear because readers should know who is responsible for the information they are reading. The site isn’t presented as a publication written by a large team of professional chefs or culinary specialists.
It is a project built around my interest in researching and explaining practical subjects related to the home kitchen.
The Future of The Crafts & Kitchen
The original idea behind The Crafts & Kitchen was simple: answer useful questions that people actually encounter in their kitchens.
That idea continues to guide the site.
As new kitchen appliances, cookware, products, and cooking techniques become part of everyday life, there will always be new questions to investigate.
I intend to continue expanding The Crafts & Kitchen around those questions, with an emphasis on practical information, careful research, and explanations that are useful to people cooking in their own homes.
Thank You for Visiting
Whether you arrived here because you were researching a kitchen appliance, trying to understand cookware, looking for information about a cooking method, or simply exploring the site, I appreciate you taking the time to visit.
The Crafts & Kitchen started from my own curiosity about the practical side of cooking and has grown into a place where I can share the information I research along the way.
I hope you find something here that helps you understand your kitchen a little better.
